Yesterday, Jeff and I decided we were tired of working. And I was more than craving a little snack. So, we stopped by The Rieger and cozied up to the bar to try out the new fall menu. We started with drinks, then sampled from the bar menu and the dinner menu.
I, of course, got the Horsefeather — which The Rieger now serves in a copper mug.
We tried the duck fat kettle corn, which I kind of wish didn’t exist. I mean, I already eat way too much kettle corn. Put some duck fat on it and you can just put it in my mouth for the rest of my life.
Then, we got the Butternut Squash Fracobolli. The Rieger’s description: “‘nduja, brown butter, fried brussel sprouts, ricotta salata.” My description: Ravioli sutffed with chorizo, and topped with butternut squash, probably the equivalent of a quarter of a Brussels sprout, and lots of brown butter. So good.
We shared the short rib sandwich, which I might like even more than The Rieger’s pork tenderloin sandwich. By “shared,” I of course mean that I ate 75% of it, but Jeff got to try it, too. (To be fair, this was my dinner; Jeff had dinner plans after our little “snack.”)
It’s safe to say we liked everything we tried.
But just to be sure, we went ahead and ordered the bone marrow with fried oysters on top for dessert: “Roasted Bone Marrow and Crispy Oysters micro mustard greens, pickled red onion, fleur de sel.”
I’m going back with Kyle this weekend. You know, to try everything else.
