Most restaurants suck at salads, which is why I don’t order salads at most restaurants. But during a post-workout lunch at Tavern at Mission Farms, I was feeling particularly healthful and thought I’d eschew their big sloppy burger (a mighty fine one, I should add) for the Asian Tuna Salad.
Seared rare tuna (perfectly cooked) sat atop napa cabbage, mango, edamame, avocado, red pepper, and toasted almonds, and was perfectly dressed with a bright sesame-citrus vinaigrette. Topped with wonton strips, a random piece of white bread, and a delicious chili aioli, it turned out to not be all that healthy, but certainly wholesome and delicious. It was worth every penny of the not-insignificant $13.50 lunch price. In fact, I’m kind of obsessed with it.
So congratulations, Tavern, on definitely not sucking at salads.
