(This is going to be a short mention of a long-awaited meal, because I really need to get to Sleepytown.)
After months of talking about it, I finally made it to ABC Cafe in Overland Park.
I knew ABC stayed open late, but not how late. After leaving a movie at Glenwood Arts, I called close to 10 p.m. to make sure we could still get in. The kitchen was open until 11:30. That was the best news I’d heard all day — until I got there and realized that ABC Cafe serves dim sum all day. That realization happened around the time someone brought out a complimentary pot of green tea.
My future mother-in-law and I got four items: shrimp dumplings, something resembling pork buns but wrapped in a flakier dough, scallion pancakes and a short rib dish. The short rib was our least favorite, but still good. The rest was amazing.
Even better? Our bill was $12.
