Put It In My Mouth: The Boot’s No. 4

I promise I put more than booze in my mouth. Remember when I ate, like, 75 of SPIN!’s #19 pizza? Maybe I just like to consume things that are named numbers. Anyway, I found a new cocktail last night that you must go put in your mouth. Immediately. It’s at The Boot on Westport Road, and if you’ll remember, I didn’t love The Boot the first time I put it in my mouth. But this cocktail? Mi sono innamorato (that’s “I’m in love” in Italian, according to Google translate). I want to always PUT IT IN MY MOUTH!

Last night, after what I will now refer to as the last supper (more on that later) at Thai Place, Kyle and I stopped into The Boot to say ‘hi’ to a friend we saw sitting at the bar. We were immediately intrigued by the cocktail menu, and truthfully, we’re easily impressed by any place that has a great bitters selection. Plus, Kyle’s on spring break. So, we sat down for a little liquid dessert.

Now, I’m not usually one to go for creamy cocktails, and I rarely order anything with vodka, but I will always go for spice and fizz, so I had no hesitations ordering No. 4: “Bisongrass vodka, cinnamon-pepper syrup, cream, fizz.” I was delighted when it appeared in front of me in a wide-mouth mason jar — a big one — with crushed ice!

It was creamy, it was spicy, it was not too sweet. The vodka was infused with lemongrass, and the cinnamon-pepper simple syrup was homemade by the drink’s creator, Bronson, who may very well be my cocktail soul mate.

Equal parts thank you and damn you, Bronson, for making a cocktail I don’t ever want to stop putting in my mouth!

Gahhh! Bronson also created “The Woods” at R Bar which was, to date, the best cocktail I’ve ever had. So excited to hear he’s at The Boot! I have to try it now! He’s a boozy magician!
